Sutartinės - Lithuanian old polyphonic songs performed by women in the north-east of Lithuania, kind of milking.

In 2010, sutartinės were included in the list of intangible UNESCO heritage. Description

The name sutartinės comes from the word sutarti meaning "in harmony". Songs have several parallel straight melodic lines and are distinguished by verses with meaningful content and chorus with occasional expressions.

Sutartinės are made in over 40 different styles. Sutartinės are usually sung by two singers in parallel, by three in canon or by two groups, where the soloist of one group performs verses, a group of refrains and the whole is repeated by the second group. At the same time, the singer moves in a circle, stomping and embracing with his arms.

Song lyrics are about work, family, holidays, history and everyday life. Sutartinės are sung during exalted ceremonies, concerts and festivals. Songs are usually performed by women, while men perform instrumental versions, playing the Lord's flute, horn, long wooden trumpets, flutes and citrines.
