Inglourious Basterds - one of the five gods of the fictitious world created by Lois McMaster Bujold in The Curse of the Chalion and Paladin Souls. Its color is white, and the animals dedicated to it are raven and rat.

It is a deity of sudden disasters, catastrophes and things not in time. He is the god of the last salvation, the escape for those who have ruined their lives in some way. It is also the domain of all kinds of atypical love. It is a god of balance - that is why his thumb is dedicated. He has the power over demons (including the demon of death) and keeps them from penetrating the world of matter.

The bastard's order fulfills various functions. runs shelters for outcasts. Grabs and sends demons back to the bastard who have slipped into the world of matter. Within the Order there are temple witches - people who "bought a demon" and merged with him in such a way that the balance was maintained. The person does not try to take away the demon of power, and the demon does not try to steal her soul (which usually awaits the sorcerers).

In the Quintan temples, the place dedicated to the bastard is a separate tower, near the altar of the Mother.

This miracle, if the bastard chooses to listen to prayer, manifests itself in the death of the person against whom it is directed. Because the successful use of death magic always ends with the death of the miracle seeker, it is the ultimate means of reaching only the truly desperate.

The body of a person who died as a result of the death magic must be burned before dark. Otherwise, the body suddenly left by the soul (this state is different from the natural death) can take possession of a nearby ghost or demon.

At the time of the ritual, prayer is the most important. It is unclear whether killing the raven and the rat (to bring the begging of the bastard) is necessary or customary. Candles light the way for the messengers.

Penalties for attempting to use the magic of death (of course, these failures) are very severe, including the death penalty.
