Walenty Łukawski

The abduction of King Stanisław August Poniatowski Walenty Łukawski and Kazimierz Pułaski during the Confederation of Bar

Walenty Łukawski, Nieczuja's coat of arms (born 1743 - died September 10, 1773) was a Polish nobleman, captain and member of the Bar Confederation, who led the abduction of King Stanisław August Poniatowski.

The abduction took place on November 3, 1771 in Warsaw. Łukawski led a group of 29 men and only one of them, Jan Kuźma, was not caught. The rest, including Łukawski, was arrested.

Lukewski and Cybulski were sued by the Sejm for murder and sentenced to death, although the king asked to save their lives. (In the Commonwealth, the king had no right to pardon the criminals judged by the Sejm). Kashmir was exiled to the end of his life.

Łukawski was publicly cut off in Warsaw on September 10, 1773. He was first cut down, then torn down, and finally burned in the presence of twenty thousand people. His wife Marianna was forced to watch his death and died after three days of shock.
