Supra: a traditional Georgian feast filled with rituals.
Supra is the backdrop for all the important events in the life of the Georgians. It is also a symbol of the hospitality of Georgian society. The supra course is supervised by the tamada - master of ceremonies. He hands out a row of toast and watches over the table for food and wine. Toasts during a supper are erected in a specific order, usually first for a room, then for the reason of meeting and individual guests. The universal answer to the toast is the word gaumardżos (For our victory).
During the supper, the table is usually very well stocked and talked about family, art, politics, religion, life and death. The bond between family members, friends and co-workers is strengthened at that time.
