Ranier I of Montferrat

Ranier I from Montferrat (hair Ranieri, born around 1084, died in May 1135) - margrave of Montferrat from about 1100 to 1135.

He was the son of William IV of Montferrat and his wife from the second marriage of Otta di Aglié. He was a supporter of Emperor Henry V. Thanks to them, the Aleramicists from Montferrat began to play a significant role in Italian politics. His wife from 1105 was Gizela, daughter of Wilhelm I, Count of Burgundy. They had three or four daughters and a son, William V. Bibliography
