Qibla
Qibla
Qiblah - the direction in which the Muslims should pray during prayer. This custom is an old custom of the Semitic people. This duty was designated by the Quran and is described in theological literature. In the early years of Islam, Muslims prayed towards Jerusalem. This direction was taken over from the Jews and ordered by Mohammed with the introduction of the duty of prayer. As Mohammed's views changed in the second year, the hijra set a new direction, which was Mecca. According to Muslim tradition, the change of direction of prayers took place in a small mosque near Medina. In this mosque, the Prophet praying towards Jerusalem turned and began praying towards Mecca. Since then, this mosque has been called Masjid al-kiblatajn (Two-Direction Mosque).
Today, Muslims all over the world always pray towards the Kaaba temple in Mecca. Direction in the mosques is designated mihrab.
The cibel is also kept in the case of the burial of the dead. The bodies of retracted Muslims are laid out on the right side and face down towards Mecca.
