Plague in Wielkopolska (1568)
Plague in Wielkopolska - an epidemic of an unknown disease (so-called morane air), which took place in Wielkopolska in 1568.
The epidemic lasted from July to December. It exploded in the area of Chwaliszewo (then the suburbs of Poznan) and attacked the surrounding suburbs, and then Poznań itself. Over time, it has been brought to other cities, including: Gniezno, Pyzdr, Środa Wielkopolska, Szamotuły, Rogoźna, Czarnków and even Łogżenica. From Poznan came a large part of the municipal authorities, among others. Mayor Jan Rakwicz (replaced by Maciej Jaczek), city councilors Marcin Gelhor, Jan Baduński, Erazm Kamień, laymen and members of the chapel of the cathedral. Lubradski Academy interrupted the lecture activity for the time being. The number of victims is unknown.
