Henri-Paul Büsser (born January 16, 1872 in Toulouse, died December 30, 1973 in Paris) - French composer and conductor. Curriculum vitae
He studied, among others with César Franck (organ), Ernest Guiraud, Charles Gounod and Jules Massenet (composition). In 1893 he was awarded the music prize of the French Academy Prix de Rome. From 1904 he worked as a teacher at the Paris Conservatoire, leading to 1929 a class of vocal ensembles, then a composition class. In the years 1939-1941 he was the director of Opéra Comique, in 1949-1952 he was the director of the Paris Opera. He was also a church organist at Saint-Cloud for several decades. In 1938 he was accepted as a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts.
operas, ballet, songs, symphonic, chamber and religious works (masses, motets, Magnificat). He was inspired by the music of Gounod (in religious works) and Debussy (in symphonic and chamber music). One of his students was Henri Dutilleux. He developed and published Traité d'instrumentation Guirauda, he was also the author of the memoirs De "Pelléeas" aux "Indes galantes" (1955).
