Bessie Braddock, née Bamber (born September 24, 1899 in Liverpool, died November 13, 1970 ibid) - British Labor Party politician. Biography

Bessie Braddock was the daughter of Mary Bamber, who was involved in Liverpool's politics. She joined the labor party in 1922, then she left and her husband followed John 'Jack' Braddock. In 1945, she was elected an Liverpool Exchange deputy, becoming the first female MP (MP) member of this organization. From 1968 she was a member of the National Executive Committee of the Labor Party and vice-president of the Labor Party. In 1970 she received the Freedom of the City of Liverpool award. She is the author of the autobiography 'The Braddocks'. She died on November 13, 1970, in her hometown. Her monument is on Liverpool Lime Street.
