Maria Micaela Desmaisieres was born in a noble family. In 1844 she set up a home for women in need of help, mainly for prostitutes who wanted to give up the precedent they had been working on. Accepted women, except for refuge, religious and secular education. Because of many in need, in 1856 she founded the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and Mercy; In 1860 was approved by Pius IX. She died on 24 August 1865 during the cholera epidemic and was buried in Valencia.
In 1889 the beatification process began, and in 1891 its remains were transferred from the cemetery to the assembly house and placed in an artistic sarcophagus. Pius XI beatified her on June 7, 1925, and on March 4, 1934 she made her canonization.
