Paul Vermehren (born 1660 in Lübeck, died 1729 in Leipzig) is a German lawyer, royal-Polish and electoral Saxon court counselor, director of the Saxon post office during the reign of King Augustus II of Poland.

He was the son of merchant Paul Vermehren. His ancestors arrived in Lübeck in 1600 as a religious refugee from Antwerp. In the years 1675-1677 he attended the Katharineum High School in Lubeck, then took up studies at the University of Leipzig. Post-pole spacing of 1722 in Meissen

He became secretary of the Danish diplomatic mission and in 1697 was a Danish delegation for peace talks in Rijswijk, ending the 9 year war. He came to Dresden with Woldemar August von Löwendahl. From 1709 he was serving in the court of king Augustus II Strong, and in time became a royal-Polish court advisor, and in 1715 he became the director of the Saxon post office. As a director he commissioned the measurement of roads in Saxony. The measurements were completed in 1721, and since 1722 the postmark spacers were placed on the territory of the Saxon Electorate, where the Polish coat of arms and / or the initials of the kings of Poland Augustus II or August III (Augustus Rex - King August) were placed. To date there are dozens of such posts in eastern Germany and south-western Poland. Paul Vermehren also prevented Leipzig from transferring his main post office to Dresden.
