External load

External load, external force - acts from the outside (from the side of the environment) to a separate physical system (bodies, structures), constituting a coherent whole with a specific interior. The interior of, for example, the construction system is the entire space which occupies the material of its individual components. In construction, typical external loads are, for example, construction loads, wind, liquid and ground pressure, snow load, etc. External loads can consist of forces and moments concentrated or from different types of distributed loads. In contrast to the own weight of the structure, external loads only act on their surfaces. External loads also include thermal interactions that affect the entire interior of the structure.
