Sydney Declaration - World Federation of Physicians' Declaration passed in 1968.

This declaration is related to the development of transplantology. The development of this field of medicine has brought some problems. Giving vital organs from a living donor is considered to be unacceptably ethical, whereas in some cases only organ transplantation is meaningful (the dead organ is not working). The necessity of taking a live organ from a dead donor led to the need to reflect on the definition of death.

This challenge was taken by the 2. General Assembly of the World Medical Association. It introduced the notion of cerebral death. She also paid attention to the doctor's responsibility for declaring death, death criteria, and her progressive and irreversible character. He is referring to the loss of brain function and clinical evaluation, and he also points to the possibility of organ transplants. Bibliography
