Semi-circular shafts
Semi-circular shafts (tori semicirculares) - anatomical structures of the midbrain (central nervous system).
Semi-circular shafts in phylogeny appear in chondrichthy fish. In these fishes, nerve fibers begin to move to the cerebellum.
In the reptiles, they grow from the beginning
The nerve fibers that start their course in the periapical auditory system are transplanted into the seminal webs, forming the lateral ribs. In vertebrates termed lower, the fibers of the lateral nuclei are also terminated. In mammalian cases, however, some of these fibers reach another location, to medial benthic bodies.
