Quasi-plastic material

Load-deflection dependence for a sample made of ordinary concrete and fibrobetone, subjected to bending

Quasi-plastic material - a material that has certain characteristics of a plastic material but is not.

An example of such material is fibrobeton. After adding the fibers to the cementitious composite, it acquires certain characteristics characterizing the plastic material. It is no longer brittle and does not crack as fast as conventional concrete, but it deforms while retaining its load capacity. It can transfer short-term overloads without visible damage.

Quasi-plasticity is most evident when comparing load-deflection dependencies during bending of a sample made of ordinary concrete and fibrobetone. The complete destruction of the fibrobetone sample takes place over a longer period of time than with normal concrete.
