Last tape
Bore Angelovski as Krapp.
The Last Tape (La Dernière Bande) - a play written by Samuel Beckett and published in 1958. The show premiered at the same year at the Royal Court Theater in London. The drama was directed by Beckett twice in West Berlin and twice in Paris. Outline of the plot
The drama is set to take place in the future. The title Krapp is an older, lonely man who has a habit of being 24 years old each year recording his voice on a tape recorder. In his recordings Krapp told what happened to him over the past year. One time he listened to the tape he had recorded at the age of 39. The audience will learn about the love Krapp has left to write a novel of his life (which ultimately has not been successful), and about other events in his life. Translation of the title
According to Antoni Libera, Beckett's original title, Krappa's Last Tape, is not obligatory for other language versions. The word "Krapp" is suggestive only in English, where it is associated with the word "scrap", meaning "scrap". Neither the German word nor the French version of the title appeared Krapp, so the title was translated into Polish as simply the Last Tape. Bibliography
