Verdeja

Prototype copy of a 75 mm self-propelled gun on the chassis of the Verdeja tank

Verdeja - Spanish prototype light tank developed in the second half of the 1930s. Numerous components were used in the construction of the vehicle from the Spanish tanks of the PzKpfw I and T-26 tanks. The vehicle was armed with a 45 mm caliber gun and two MG 7.92 mm machine guns.

The tank designer was Félix Verdeja, artillery captain. Two prototypes of the vehicle were built, the first of which was completed in January 1939. Despite the approval in 1941 of a plan for the construction of 1000 tanks of this type, Verdeja did not go into mass production.

In 1945, a prototype of a 75 mm field-capable self-propelled field gun was developed on the basis of a tank. Bibliography
