Sulcus occipitalis

Sulcus occipitalis, sutura occipitalis - seam present on the head of some insects.

Sulcus occipitalis is a transverse pseudobulb. When present, it separates in the dorsal part of the head from the occipitum, and in the lateral parts of the posterior cheeks (postgenae). It is particularly well developed in prostaglandins. On the inside of the coticle, the sutures correspond to the reinforcement of the back wall of the head box.

The sutura occipitalis is defined as a seam running between the sulcus malaris and the occipital opening, with the Mymaridae occupying more or less occipital ribs in other Chalcidoidea.
