Michal Chalecki


Michal Chalecki (born November 12, 1679 in Wiejsyski, died January 24, 1715 in Warsaw) - the grandfather of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Curriculum vitae

He was the son of Charles Kazimierz (died 1696), starost of Mozyr. He belonged to Sapieha's opponents in Lithuania. In 1696 he was a fasting congregation. In 1697 he supported the election of August II and was an MP for the Coronation Diet of 1697 in Cracow. In 1701 he regained the Mozyrsk district. He participated in the civil war against Sapiehom. Together with Krzysztof Białłozor, he concluded an allied and protective treaty with the Tsar on behalf of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In 1704 he joined the confederation of Sandomierz. During the rule of Stanislaw Leszczyński he lost his starostwo. After August II's return to the Commonwealth, October 31, 1709, he became an exponent of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
