Laudomia Forteguerri


Laudomia Forteguerri (born 1515, died after 1555) - Italian poet. She came from Siena. She was the daughter of Alessandra di Nicodemo and his second wife, Virginia di Giulio Pecci. She had an older half brother Nicodemus. At less than twenty years old, she married Giulia di Alessandro Colombini. She gave birth to three children, daughter Olimpia (1535), daughter Antonia (1537) and son Alessandro (1539). During the conflict between Siena and Florence, the poet rewarded her efforts to strengthen the city's fortifications. Six sonnets that express love for women have remained from the poetic output of Laudomia Forteguerri.
