Rune stone from Veda

Inscription on the boulder of the Veda

Veda Rune Stone (U 209) - a runic stone from the 11th century, located near the Veda farm in the parish of Angarn in the municipality of Vallentuna in the Swedish province of Uppland.

The inscription is engraved on the southern side of a large granite boulder, located northwest of the Veda farm. It is written in the body of a snake-shaped eighth, around which two smaller snakes are braided. The inscription was engraved in honor of the deceased son by his father, who acquired a farm in Veda for the money earned during his stay in Rusi (Gardariki). Its content is: ţurtsain × kiarţi | | if × tiR ironmunt × sun sin auk | Your goal is × × × a × austr i karţum

What it means: Thorsten raised it in memory of his son, Ärmunda, and bought this farm and gained wealth in the east in the state of Gardar.
