Merciful Samaritan (Carlotta painting)
The Derbarmherzige Samariter (German Derbarmherzige Samariter) - was created around 1676 by the German baroque painter Johann Karl Loth.
The work is now part of Lothar Franz's graffiti collection Schönborn, an exhibition at the Weißenstein Palace in Pommersfelden. Description
The subject of the work refers to one of the parable of the Gospel of Luke - Parable of the Good Samaritan. The painter presented the wounded naked wanderer, whom the charitable Samaritan provides. The victim sustains the man so that he is in a semi-sitting position. In the distance to the right of the picture are two travelers. When referring to the text of the Gospel, they may be identified as priests of the Temple of Jerusalem and the Levites, who did not stop to help the assailant lying nearby.
