Market in Lelów
Fragment of the market
Market in Lelow - the center of the Lelów district in the Częstochowa district. Monuments
The square in Lelow has for centuries been the role of an urban market with a pavement. This situation changed in the 1970s, when the market was moved and the market got a hard surface. High greenery and small architectural elements were also introduced.
The square has a regular layout with streets going out from the corners. Apart from the minor additions in the eastern front (after 1945), postwar architecture was not introduced here. After 1989, a number of seals were built, with the scale and form of the old buildings. At that time, a commemorative plaque was erected on the 800th anniversary of Lelów (the northern frontage), and later a wooden statue of Kazimierz the Great was erected. After 2000, the market was partially modernized by building concrete paths converging radially around a central circular sandstone boulder.
