Anna Francesca Boscardin was born on October 6, 1888. She was the daughter of farmers Angelo and Maria Teresa Benetti. In 1905 she joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Daughters of the Sacred Hearts in Vicenza and adopted the religious name Maria Bertilla. After the initial period she worked in the kitchen and laundry. Then she started working as a nurse in a hospital where she looked after sick children. During the First World War she took care of wounded soldiers. In 1922, she underwent surgery to remove the tumor and died three days later.

It was beatified by Pope Pius XII on June 8, 1952 and canonized by John XXIII on May 11, 1961. Bibliography
