David B. Richman


David B. Richman (born 1898 - died 1962) is an American entomologist and arachnologist specializing in spiders.

D. B. Richman studied first at the University of Arizona in Tucson. He graduated in 1970 with a B.S. and in 1973 a M.Sc. He then continued his studies at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where in 1977 he received a degree in zoology with specialization in invertebrates. Currently he is a professor emeritus of the College and Department of Entomology, Plant Pathology and Weed Science at New Mexico State University in Les Cruces. He was also the curator of the local Arthropod Museum.

D. B. Richman is the author or co-author of over 130 different publications. About 50 of them are scientific articles devoted to insects and spiders. He wrote a guide to Grasshopper New Mexico and 12 chapters on various books. He is interested in microscopy, especially diatoms, and has authored several articles published in Micscape in recent years, including an illustrated essay on dinosaur diatoms from Oamaru, New Zealand, co-authored with Richard Carter. Next to the spiders, he is also fascinated by hymenoptera and attends the International Society of Hymenopterists, held at Davis.
