December Club

December Club - founded in 1936 a political club of 35 Tory members, opponents of the policy of concessions to the Third Reich and fascist Italy in the British House of Commons.

Its members were opponents of the government's policy towards the remilitarization of the Rhineland, the Anschluss of Austria, the Munich Agreement and the Czech annex.

The members of the club were: Robert Boothby, Ronald Cartland, Paul Emrys-Evans.

The name of the club referred to the month in which the Hoare-Laval Pact was negotiated. Bibliography
