Xiaolüren
Xiaolüren from Taiwan Xiaolüren (official name: chinese 行人 倒數 計時 顯示, reverse countdown for pedestrians, colloquial Chinese: 小 綠 人; pinyin: Xiǎolǜrén; literally "small green man") animated light signaling in Taiwan. It was first introduced in Taipei City in 1999. In recent years it has become popular across the island. The signal shows the image of a green man wearing a hat. As the pedestrian crosses the end of the road, the pedestrian accelerates, suggesting passers-by to pass through the lanes on time. The green man is accompanied by a countdown of the time spent crossing the street on the suspended meter. Xiaolüren was also used in Spain, especially in Seville. In the country of his origin he was the subject of a patent dispute between the Ministry of Transport and Kang Shen Technology Company.
