Prayer Book of Constance Sister


Prayer of the Sisters of Constance - Polish manuscript prayer book from 1527.

The prayer book is in the form of a paper code. It was written in 1527, but contains a copy of the earlier prayers. Some fragments have been reprinted from printed texts. The texts are written by various people, including probably by an unidentified monk who finally placed a note: 1527. The old man wrote. In the content of the prayers, the name Constance appears twice, which, however, lacks some information. She was probably a nun (she is called a slave in the text) and the prayer book could have been arranged or rewritten for her. The manuscript is kept in the Jagiellonian Library in Cracow.
