Piotr Czarkowski

Piotr Czarkowki (born 1808 at Drohiczyn, died 1898 in Sandomierz), Polish pedagogue and geographer.

The son of Marcin Czarkowski and Józefa Wojtkowska. Initially he studied at a gymnasium in Vilnius. From 1830 to 1839 he was a private teacher in Lithuania. From 1839 to 1862 he worked in Warsaw. In 1862 he entered the government service and moved to Sandomierz. He lived to be 90 years old. He published: "History in Poland, Lithuania and Rus" (9 editions, 1859-1865), "Speech" (1875), "Short lecture of universal geography" (many editions, eg. ). Bibliography
