Michał Friedländer


Michał Friedländer - (born in 1894 in Skole, died around 1942/1943) - publicist and teacher of Jewish origin.

After graduating from the Polish gymnasium in Drohobycz, he began studying at the University of Vienna, earning in 1919 a PhD in law.

Simultaneous German and historical studies enabled him to take up a job related to historical research at the Institut für Kulturforschung. He also worked as a private official in Borysław, and then became the head of the Universal Library, which was created on his initiative. He conducted educational activities and dealt with pedagogical work; in 1923 he obtained the right to teach German and history in secondary schools.

In the years 1929-1939 he worked in Krakow as a German language teacher in the Private Co-educational Gymnasium of the Jewish Association of People's and Middle Schools.

In addition, he wrote articles, among others on the latest Western achievements in the field of pedagogy, for magazines such as "Neofilolog", "Pedagogical Movement", "Pedagogical Monthly" as well as didactic work ("Foreign language reading in high school. Methodical ", Kraków 1935) and works in the field of German studies for young people.

He died during the war. The circumstances of his death are not known.
