Do Diogneta
To Diognet (Stgr. Ἐπιστολὴ πρὸς Διόγνητον Epistole pros Diogneton, Latin Epistula ad Diognetum, also known as the Letter to Diognet) - a small volume (12 chapters) Christian apology of an anonymous author, formerly attributed to Justin.
GenesisThis apologia originated at the end of the second century AD, probably in Alexandria. It is a short lecture on the basic principles of the Christian religion, addressed to the pagan. It consists of criticism of paganism and Judaism, short catechesis and final instructions. The most known parts of the text are chapters V and VI, depicting the role of Christians in the world.
This letter was one of the most important sources of inspiration for Saint. Josemaría, the founder of Opus Dei, because it describes the ordinary life of the first Christians. "Christians are not different from other people nor their place of residence, nor their language, nor their attire. [...] In a word: what is the soul in the body, the Christians are in the world."
