Harold G. Hoffman


Harold Giles Hoffman (born February 7, 1896 in South Amboy, June 4, 1954 in New York) - American politician, activist of the Republican Party, colonel of the United States Army, freemason, grandson of painter JC Thoma, great-grandson of a Scottish sculptor James Thoma.

He participated in both world wars. In the years 1923-1924 he was a member of the New Jersey Parliamentary Assembly (lower chamber of the state parliament). From 1925 to 1926 he was the mayor of South Amboy. In the years 1927-1931 he represented the 3rd district of New Jersey in the House of United States Representatives. He served as Governor of the State of New Jersey (1935-1938).

On September 10, 1919, he married Lillie Moss. The couple had three children. Bibliography
