Apple tree
Apple apples - a commercial variety of apples, harvested from apples (Malus Mill.) growing in the Łącka Basin in Poland. It has a protected geographical indication of the European Union. The list of traditional products was entered on October 10, 2005.
The apples are characterized by strong juicy and blush, strong aroma and relatively high acidity, defined by connoisseurs as a mountain green note. Some varieties have a waxy coating. The texture of the flesh depends on the variety - it can be short, medium-compact or compact. These fruits give the local microclimate. The fruit ripening here is relatively small. Most orchard orchards grow on slopes of 15 °, enabling the best possible spread of annual temperatures. Fruits (apples, plums and pears) were cultivated in the Łącka Basin already in the 13th century and were ferried to the Vistula River in Gdansk and then dispatched to other European countries. In the 17th and 18th centuries fruit orchards were already very developed. In 1698 (according to local protocols), some cottages were obliged to harvest fruit and deliver it to the mansions of the serf. According to legend, local priest Jan Piaskowy ordered the parishioners to plant fruit trees as a penance for their sins. Every spring, the Apple Blossom Festival is celebrated locally.
