Walt Wydartowski - the highest elevation of the Gniezno Upland, at the same time the highest point of the Gniezno Lake District. The shaft is a moraine hill, the remnant of the last Baltic glaciation, in the past was an important strategic point.
During the occupation, in 1942, Germany built a 70-meter wooden observation tower. It burned down in 1956 after a lightning strike. Shortly after this incident, the Polish Army also built a 50 m wooden tower. Later, it was replaced by a 25-meter metal structure. This tower was demolished in the sixties.
Today, at the highest elevation is a 13 meter high viewing tower, which is a tourist attraction. The highest elevation is 167 m. It is 70 m higher than the level of nearby lakes in Mogilno and Trzemeszno. The tower is visible in the west of the buildings of Gniezno and Trzemeszno, in the north-east Mogilno, and in the south-east even the chimneys of the Pątnów Power Plant. Bibliography
