George Sterenga


Jerzy Sterenga (born 3 February 1926 in Vilnius, died 19 July 1999 in Wałbrzych) - Polish basketball player, Polish representative, medalist of the Polish championship. Sports career

In the league he debuted in the colors of the Gdańsk Coin in the end of the season 1951-1952, in the years 1952-1954 represented the colors of the Polonia Warszawa, winning the Polish club in 1954. Since 1954 he lived and worked in Wałbrzych, he played in the A Górnik Wałbrzych, with whom he won promotion to the 2nd Division in 1955, was also a coach of this club, in 1974 he won promotion to the league, but in the 1974/1975 season his team took the last twelfth place. In the 1960s he also trained the Unia-Lustrzanka Wałbrzych's female team and the male Górnik-Thorez Wałbrzych.

In the years 1952-1955 he played 46 in the senior Polish national team. At the European Championship in 1955 (5th place), winning a total of 425 points.

There were also his son John, Jolanta's daughter and Marcin, Maciej and Michał's grandchildren. Bibliography
