Democratic Party of the New Society - a small party of the Mian created in 1988 by My Thee Zuna. The aim of the party is to build a democratic society based on the principles of equality, freedom, social justice and respect for human rights and reconciliation. History
Initially, this party was under a different name (ABSL). As a result of the creation of 8888 it was condemned and forbidden by the ruling junta. During this time, DPNS was the second most popular party in Burma. She concentrated mainly on students and other young people. She worked with the National League for Democracy.

At this moment the grouping has no success. It belongs to the Progressive Alliance (not to be confused with the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats in the European Parliament). Economic doctrine is democratic socialism.
