Colonization in Poland
Colonization in Poland - settlement of unpopulated or sparsely populated areas. The earliest depended on the settlement of prisoners of war. From the 11th century, it was run by "The Rite of Free Visitors".
From the twelfth century settling of colonists of Flemish, Walloon and German origin; intensification at the end of the twelfth and first half of XIII century; from the mid-sixteenth to the eighteenth century, Dutch colonization; at the end of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries; planned German colonization organized by the partitioning powers during World War II.
