Rectum

Rectum, rectal gut (Latin rectum) - the back of the digestive tract, which is of ectodermal origin and ends with anus. Some animals include the entire intestines (proctodaeum) and others form part of it.

Rectum can be preceded by praerectum, postcolon, colloid, ileum or directly the central intestine.

There are rectangular reeds in rectus and rectal pouches with unknown functions. Some arachnids have a rectal bladder and some papillae are reticular. In obunogów rektum is located in urosomie.

In hexagons through the walls of the rektum, water is absorbed into the hemolymph. In the larvae of the equatorial dragon, the water rinsing the gills is pumped through the rektum. The militia, in addition to the parasitic nematodes, have 6 reeds in the rectum resorbing the water.

In vertebrates, an intestinal segment of the intestine is called the rectum.
