The Art of Getting By - an American comedy drama from 2011, first authored and directed by Gavin Wiesen. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival entitled Homework. In the film there are, among others. Freddie Highmore, Emma Roberts, Michael Angarano, Elizabeth Reaser, Sam Robards, Rita Wilson and Blair Underwood.

Description of the plot George Zinavoy (Freddie Highmore) is a fatalist high school student and talented artist. He decides to stop doing homework because he feels that everything is meaningless. His decision is suspended in the student's rights. On the roof of the school, Sally Howe (Emma Roberts) smokes a cigarette the next day. When Mrs. Dougherty (Ann Harada) appears, George quickly pulls out a cigarette and takes a blame on himself. Sally waits for George in front of the school to thank him and despite initially reluctantly talking to her, he quickly changes his mind and takes her home. On Career Day he meets a young artist, Dustin Mjakoona, and feels inspired by his thoughts on life. When George goes to visit him, he takes Sally with him and soon finds out that she likes the young artist. Sally invites George to a New Year's Eve party where she dances with her ex-boyfriend. George gets drunk and vomits before entering the club and then falls asleep. Sally is there - she apologizes and takes her home. At Valentine's Day they go out for dinner and Sally asks George if he wants to have sex with her. George, shocked, does not answer. After a short silence the teenager says that they should not do this because he is her only true friend. George does not speak for the rest of the evening and returns home early. He does not answer calls from Sally and does not want to talk to her. She decides instead to invite Dustin and flirts with him. After Dustin kisses her, they begin to meet. George does not hand over his paper about Hardy and landed in the director's office. It has two options to choose from: expelling or doing all the work from the beginning of the year. At home, George finally confronts his stepfather about his work-related lies and fights between them. The boy runs out of the house and goes to Sally, who does not let him in. George starts kissing her in the corridor and Sally reciprocates the kiss, but she opens the door and shows George Dustin and her mother in the room. Furious and offended.

The next morning he meets his mother on a park bench. He explains that his stepfather lied about her work and divorced her. George comforts her and tries to rethink her situation with Sally. He decides to do all the missing work and give it to school. His only project for art classes is to make an image that is sincere, true. Sally still meets Dustin. She meets Georg at the bar and tells him about her plans to travel to Europe with Dustin and leave the ceremony to finish high school. George tells her she loves her and they go back to her apartment where they kiss. Sally says she reciprocates his feelings and promises to be together one day. George triumphantly surrenders all of his outstanding work and project, which even captivates his art teacher. During the ceremony he is called and receives a certificate, and his mother is proud of him. He decides to go to the studio to look at his project: smiling Sally. She decided not to go with Dustin to Europe and appears at the door of the studio, approaching George and looking at the picture together. Cast Soundtrack
