Giovanni Francesco Barbarigo
Giovanni Francesco Barbarigo (born 29 April 1658 in Venice, died 26 January 1730 in Padua) is an Italian Catholic priest, cardinal, bishop of Padua, nephew of Gregory Barbarigo.
On July 21, 1698, he was elected bishop of Verona. On August 17, 1698, he received the sacrament from the hands of Cardinal Sebastiano Antonio Tanary (co-consecrators were Archbishops Francesco Pannochieschi and Prospero Bottino). On July 9, 1714, he became Bishop of Brescia. On May 29, 1715, Clement XI elevated him to Cardinal dignity. November 29, 1719 Clement XI created him in cardinal pectore. The nomination was announced on September 30, 1720. On January 20, 1723, he took over the bishopric of Padua, where he remained until his death. He took part in the conclave of selecting Innocent XIII and Benedict XIII. Bibliography
