Western Somalia Liberation Front (WSLF) - a separatist rebel group fighting the Ethiopian army for separating Ogaden from the rest of Ethiopia and joining Somalia. The group was active after the military coup in Ethiopia in 1974. In 1975, he began an armed rebellion which in 1976-77 was supplied by the Somali government of Mohammed Siad Barre. In July 1977, the desire for armed support of the group's activities by Somalia led to the outbreak of the Ogaden war. After the defeat of the Somali army, the Western Liberation Front of Somalia only conducted sporadic anti-Ethiopian actions.

In 1984, the Ogaden National Liberation Front was formed, constituting a continuation of the Somali armed resistance in Ethiopia.
