Eugeniusz Dzierżencki


Eugeniusz Dzierżencki (born 1905 in Warsaw, died in 1990 in Sopot) - Polish mariner painter. From 1924, he studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Władysław Skoczylas and Leon Wyczółkowski, then broke his studies and left for Gdynia. Already before 1939 he was known as a seasoned seaman and creator of urban landscapes of Gdańsk and Sopot, he stayed in Karwia, Jastrzebie Góra and Lisim Jar. In the summer season he organized outdoor exhibitions for the holidaymakers. in Kuźnica and Jurata. After World War II, he lived in Sopot, together with Ignacy Klukowski, Antoni Suchanek and Maksymilian Kasprowicz. He was the founder of the Gdynia Artists Union on the Coast. Together with Marian Mokwa are recognized as the most important contemporary Polish seafarers. He participated in exhibitions organized in Poland and abroad. Germany, Japan and New Zealand. Eugeniusz Dzierżencki's works were often bought by shipowners from France, the United Kingdom, the United States, Brazil, Norway and decorated the interior of ships flying these flags.
