Workforce
Workforce - in economics means a part of the working-age population that is able to work. So this is the sum of the active and the unemployed. The workforce is the ability of a person to perform work, which consists of the physical and mental abilities and qualifications resulting from his or her education and experience. The workforce includes people working and looking for work. It is one of the main manufacturing factors.
This concept derives from Marxist literature, where it is often used interchangeably with the notion of the proletariat. It is understood as a resource of human beings capable of working.
Nowadays, sociological and economic literature is replaced by the concept of human capital, which takes into account not only the number of employees but also their motivation, entrepreneurship and qualifications. Often, however, in relation to simple workers, most often in the industry, which are attractive to the low cost of living for corporations, the term cheap labor is used.
