Mieczysław Szymański
Mieczysław Szymański (born 8 November 1903 in Warsaw, died 22 September 1990) - Polish painter and illustrator.
Since 1927 he studied at the Faculty of Painting at the School of Fine Arts under the tutelage of Tadeusz Pruszkowski, belonged to the groups of Wolności and Powiśle. After completing his studies in 1932, he created landscapes, still lifes, genre scenes and grotesque compositions characterized by moods that took part in exhibitions at the Institute of Art Propaganda. Apart from painting his interest was artistic fabric, during the exhibition in Paris in 1937 received the Grand Prix. After World War II, he lived in Lodz, where he devoted himself to pedagogical work and the creation of artistic mats and rugs for which he was awarded the State Prize in 1953. In the years 1949-1974 he headed the Studio of Classical Textile Techniques at the Faculty of Painting at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts. Bibliography
