Johann Gottfried Seume (born January 29, 1763 in Poserna, now part of Lützen), died June 13, 1810 in Teplice (Czech Republic) - German writer and poet, known primarily as author of Spaziergang nach Syrakus im Jahre 1802 (Walk to Syracuse in 1802). Although Seume was not the first author describing travel experiences, his description became a model for other 19th-century writers such as Levina Schücking and even 20th-century authors such as Otto Julius Bierbaum and Friedrich Christian Delius.
