Francis Burdett
Sir Francis Burdett (born January 25, 1770 in Wiltshire, England, died on January 23, 1844 in London) - a British politician.
In the years 1796-1806 and from 1807 he was a member of the House of Commons. Initially he was a radical and a leading advocate of parliamentary reform, he criticized the British government for conducting a war against revolutionary France, limiting civil liberties (suspension of the Habeas Corpus Act 1794-1801) and for the so-called Peterloo massacre from 1819. In 1810 and 1822 he was arrested for public appearances. In 1829, he contributed to the adoption of the Act of equality of Catholics and in 1832 to the Act on parliamentary electoral reform.
