History

Westerplatte is the oldest running event in Poland, launched in 1962 by sports journalist Gdańsk Radio, Jerzy Gebert. It is celebrated annually in September, with the aim of commemorating the events of September 1939. The organizers are from the beginning Radio Gdansk and MOSiR Gdansk. From the beginning, more than 50 runs were held, which until 2007 was named International Road Runner by the Coast Guard '39.
