Rużar Briffa
Ruins of Briff (born January 16, 1906 in Valletta, February 22, 1963) is a Maltese poet and physician. Son Ġovanny and Duminka. In 1924 he started his medical studies at the University of Malta and finished it in London. His specialty is venereology and dermatology. In 1931 he founded Għaqda tal-Malti Università together with Ġuż Bonnici and began publishing the newspaper "Leħen il-Malti". In 1933 he married Constance Winifrid Dunn. In 1936, their daughter Ċeċilja was born. In 1950 the marriage ended because of the death of a woman. In 1952 he married again (his wife was Louisette Attard-Bajon). In July 1961 he became ill with cancer of the larynx, which caused his death in February 1963. He was buried at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery in Paola. He was one of the most prominent Maltese poets. His name was named one of the streets in the city of Mosta. In 1984 Oliver Friggieri wrote his biography, and in 2009 he published his poetry on CDs.
