Romanian Social Democratic Party
Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD) - a Romanian political party with a left-wing profile, active in 1990-2001.
The party was formed in 1989, referring to a grouping that existed in the years 1893-1948 and was liquidated by the Communists. It was registered on January 17, 1990. In the same year, it launched itself in the parliamentary elections, receiving 0.5% of the vote and introducing 2 representatives to the Chamber of Deputies. In the next election, she took part in the coalition, obtaining a parliamentary representation of 10 members in 1992 under the Romanian Democratic Convention, 10 members in 1996 in a coalition with the Democratic Party and 5 in 2000 in a coalition with the Social Democratic Party in Romania. On 16 June 2001 PSDR joined its last coalition partner, contributing to the Social Democratic Party.
The presidents of the Romanian Social Democratic Party were Sergiu Cunescu (1990-1999) and Alexandru Athanasiu (1999-2001).
