Part of my heart
Part of my heart. A diary from the war - a diary from the World War II period, written by Wanda Przybylska, daughter of a teacher's marriage, which hid Jews in an apartment at ul. Pańska 6 in Warsaw.
Przybylska began writing the diary at the age of 12, from July 1942 to August 29, 1944. She died on September 4, 1944 in the battles of the Warsaw Uprising in Powiśle. The work had several issues. It has been published in Denmark, Italy, France, Germany and also in Japan. In Poland, it was published twice - in 1964 and 1985 (earlier, Polityka published a fragment with a discussion of Maria Rutkiewicz).
In the mood The diary is similar to the works of Anna Frank or Dawid Rubinowicz. It shows the tragedy of the fate of children during war or occupation. The most shocking are the last pages regarding the insurgent fights and the situation of the civilian population exposed to shelling, bombardment and hunger. The diary was supplemented with excerpts from Przybylska's children's works, including an essay entitled Warsaw for the Years of Twenty.
